new study of cells in vitro shows that black cohosh extracts inhibit cancer growth

This is an exciting new study about black cohosh, an herb generally used for menopausal symptoms or for regulation of hormones, being studied for inhibition of cancer cells. Now this study was an in vitro study on cells (i.e. not animal or human study, just in lab), but it showed that the triterpine glycosides in black cohosh induced cell death in cancer cells and stopped replication. This is an exciting prospect, if it in fact translates to the herbal extract as a whole and into human life.
Since it is considered to be a safe herb and useful for menopausal symptoms for women with or without history of breast cancer, it may be an excellent herb to use to discourage cancer metastasis as well!
